        W. P. Leonard

        St. Mary's Church was the scene of a mid-spring wedding on Saturday morning, May 3. when Miss Marjorie A. Hickey, daughter af Mr. and Mrs. William H. Hickey, 77 Hamilton Avenue, became the bride of William P. Leonard, son of Mrs. Catherine Leonard, 56 Letchworth Street.

        The wedding ceremony was performed by Rev. William E. Cowen, D.D., and Rev. John P. Norris was celebrant of the nuptial Mass. The altar was prettily decorated with white roses and yellow daffodils.

        The bride, escorted to the altar and given in marriage by her father, was attired in a white marquisette gown fashioned with a lace bodice and sweetheart neckline, ending in a long circular train. Her finger-tip length veil wae fashioned with a jullet cap. The bride carried a bouquet of white roses and sweetpeas. Miss Miriam Hickey, cousin of the bride, was maid of honor. She wore a gown of pale blue with matching mitts ang carried a bouquet of deep rose snapdragons and sweetpeas with matching tiara.

        Miss Madeline Englert, cousin of the bride, and Miss Kathleen Kelly were bridesmaids, Miss Englert gowned in yellow marquisette with matching mitts, carried a bouquet of bronze snapdragons and yellow sweetpeas and wore a matching tiara. Miss Kelly, gowned in aqua marquisette with matching mitts, carried a bouquet of pink snapdragons and sweetpeas and wore a matching tiara.

        John W. Gagan was best man. Charles H. Hockey and Robert Reilly, brothers-in-law of the bridegroom, were ushers at the church. For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Hickey chose a black gabardine suit with white accessories and wore a corsage of pink roses and sweetpeas. The bridegroom's mother wore a pink crepe dress with white accessories and a corsage of pink roses and sweetpeas. A wedding breakfast for the immedaite families was served at Springside Inn, and was followed by a reception for 100 guests.

        The bride presented her maid-of-honor with a gold cigarette case and matching compact and to her bridesmsida she gave gold compacts. The bridegroom's gift to his best man was a leather bill fold, and to the ushers, he gave gold tie clasps.

        The bride is a graduate of East High School and the bridegroom is a graduate of Holy Family High School. Both are employed by the Internaional Harvester Company in this city.

        After a wedding trip the couple will reside at 55 Letchworth Street.

        Mrs. Leonard was entertained at pre-nuptial showers given by the Misses Madeline Englert, Miriam Hickey, Kathleen Kelly, Betty Bennan, Dolores Robinson, and Mrs. Catherine Leonard.

        Catherine J. Leonard

        Catherine J. Leonard, 100, formerly of Boyle Center and 56 Letchworth St, Auburn, died Tuesday; Dec. 7, 1993 at the Cayuga County Nursing Home.

        Mrs. Leonard was born in Auburn, the daughter of James and Mary Dougherty Vail and has resided here all of her life Mrs. Leonard was a lifelong and oldest communicant of St. Mary’s Church and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society She was a member of the Auburn Senior Citizens and a member of the Golden Agers.

        Surviving are one son, Willam P. Leonard and his wife Marjorie of Auburn, four daughters, Katherine R. Reilly and her husband Robert of Auburn, Elizabeth J Wolf and her husband Matthew of Auburn, Mane A. Walsh and her husband David of Auburn, and Frances M Clancy and her husband George of Auburn, 22 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, and several nieces and nephews

        Mrs. Leonard was predeceased by her husband, William P Leonard who died in 1934; her son, Gerald P Leonard who died in 1940, two grandchildren, Sharon Walsh who died in 1977 and Hugh Reilly who died in 1972, and one great-granddaughter, Teresa Reilly who died in 1984

        Family prayers will be offered at 9 am Saturday at the Brew Funeral Home, 48 South St., followed by a Mass of Christian bunal which will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in St. Mary's Church by the Rev Robert J Schrader, the pastor Fnends are invited to call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Fnday at the Brew Funeral Home. Interment will be in St Joseph’s Cemetery

        Vail—Leonard.

        St. Mary's Church was the scene of a very pretty wedding yesterday morning when Miss Catherine Vail, daughter of Mrs. Mary J. Vail of Arlington Avenue, became the bride of William P. Leonard of this city. The ceremony was performed by Rev. William Payne, pastor of the church, and was witnessed by members of the families of the young people and a number of friends, including Mrs. John Harvey, Miss Minnie West, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Leonard.

        The bride wag attended by Miss Ada Quigley as bridesmaid and the groomsman was William Burke, both of this city.

        The bride was attired in a pretty gown of white chiffon taffeta with a picture hat to match. She carried a bouquet of bridal roses.

        Misa Quigley, the bridesmaid, was gowned in a charming dress of white meteor with white chiffon trimmings and carried a bouquet of pink rose buds.

        Following the ceremony a reception was given at the home of the bride’s mother after which the young people left for a wedding tour that will Include New Haven, Conn., New York City, Philadelphia and other points East and South. They will be at home in early July at No. 2 Sherwood Street.
